TaskSTRun

Running processes or services are easy to find in Windows, but the same can not be said about auto-start entries in the registry, hijacks or open connections. TaskSTRun displays such information and it makes it easy to find. Furthermore, it can tell you which processes, drivers, or other items can be considered safe or a threat to your system.

The application is free and it can be launched immediately, after downloading its lightweight executable file. It is written in C# and it requires .NET Framework 3.5. You can also use TaskSTRun on all popular Windows versions, without any problems.

The user interface consists of several tabs, on which you will find running processes and their loaded modules, auto-start entries, hijacks and open connections to remote computers and servers. The software displays the CPU and RAM usage as well, in the lower region of the interface.

You can view your running processes as listed entries or icons. They are also displayed in a tree structure, on the left side of the interface, so you will see them, regardless of which tab you access. Besides killing processes, you can also bring up a list with their loaded modules and memory usage, on a separate window.

Registered services are color coded, depending on their startup mode. You can start or stop individual services, but you can also decide how they should start. Services can start automatically when the computer boots up, on demand or you can disable them completely. The Net tab is where you can find open connections to remote computers and servers. If you are using Windows XP, you will also find the processes which initiate each connection.
